Frequently asked questions
Answers about THREATBYTES™ research scope, ethics, and how the public site relates to the platform build.
What is THREATBYTES™?
THREATBYTES™ is a doctoral research platform developing agentic, cognitive, and reasoning-driven SI for predictive malware intelligence, anticipating novel malicious software before execution using historical, simulated, and community-submitted specimens.
Does THREATBYTES execute malware on this website?
Malware is analysed only in isolated sandbox and container environments controlled by the research engine. The public website documents methodology and governance; specimen handling and model execution occur under quarantine and access controls in the research workspace.
Is the research ethically approved?
Malware research involving real and submitted specimens follows institutional ethics requirements. Formal approval references are published on the ethics page when confirmed.
Who can access submitted samples?
Access is role-gated in the authenticated application. Public pages never expose restricted or quarantined specimen details. Only programme documentation and permitted metadata.
How are SI models evaluated?
Evaluation uses controlled experiments, cyber-range simulations, and comparative benchmarking against reactive IDS/IPS baselines. Metrics include predictive accuracy, pre-execution detection, false positives, mitigation effectiveness, and explainable SI assessment of reasoning layers.
